About Us

About WEC

WEC is an American research institution focused on environmental conservation with an emphasis on the greatest problem of our time, climate change. Our team consists of various well- qualified scientists, including meteorologists, engineers, physicists, as well as data analysts, research fellows and volunteers distributed across the continents of North and South America, Europe and Africa, using knowledge and international experience to provide tools and know-how to transform will into action.

WEC’s commitment is not only to science but also to the formation of a mindset of sustainability through education, with short-term courses, workshops and conferences for discussion of solutions, partnerships with universities and talks in elementary schools, sharing the importance of conservation and sustainability as a way of life of the individual as well as the community.

We believe that the engagement and knowledge of each and every person is what will create the impact we need to make the difference we need, starting now and for all generations to come.

Our Goal

To develop scientifically-based projects to inspire, create and promote conservation of the natural environment.

Our Vision

To inspire, create and promote a flourishing and sustainable world, ensuring quality of life for this generation and for those to come.

Our Mission

Utilize balanced methods meeting the highest ethical and scientific standards to develop innovative approaches to important environmental issues.

Our History

The “Science for the World” project was initiated in 2016 by Dr. Luciana Pires, a fluid mechanics engineer and meteorology researcher in Atlanta, Georgia, USA with an earnest desire to encourage spread of scientific knowledge and methods to engage younger generations around the world. In a few months this project began to gain additional enthusiasts, with other scientists and colleagues who volunteered time and information for this common dream.

Soon the group grew to 5 … 7 … and after a year there was a network of 15 collaborators united and determined for the same cause. In May 2017 the project evolved into World Environmental Conservancy, Inc. (“WEC”), a non-profit research institution dedicated to environmental conservation and the study and monitoring of the ecosystems, weather patterns, and climate of important world areas, emphasizing the great biome of the Amazon and the unique polar environment of the Antarctic. The original “Science for the World” project was included among new WEC projects under development by this organization dedicated to addressing environmental and climate change education, and development of renewable energy for third world countries.
