WEC at SCAR 2024: New Insights into Emperor Penguin Survival and Sea Ice Dynamics

Between August 19–23, 2024, researchers Cecilia Tavares and Dr. Luciana Pires, both affiliated with the World Environmental Conservancy (WEC), participated in the 11th edition of the SCAR Open Science Conference, held in Pucón, Chile.

During the event, they presented the following scientific studies:
“Analysis of the Survival Conditions of Emperor Penguins on Snow Hill and Cape Washington Islands” and
“Analysis of Weather Conditions Influence on the Anomalous Reduction and Expansion of Sea Ice in the Antarctic.”

Their participation reinforces WEC’s commitment to scientific research focused on environmental conservation and the understanding of Antarctic climate and ecological dynamics.
