High Temperature at the British Rothera Research Station.

The British Rothera Research Station, located on the Antarctic Peninsula, recorded its highest maximum temperature of the last 15 years.

Since 2002, the month of November has not registered a temperature as high as that of Tuesday, November 7, 2017 when the thermometers at Rothera marked +6.4ºC.

This +6.4ºC equaled, but did not surpass the previous historical record. On November 9, 2002, the temperature in Rothera reached the same values, according to the records of the local weather station.

Local warming was caused by constant north winds from the Southeast Pacific, which were above average in frequency and intensity for this time of year.
