Intelligent Platform for Agricultural Drought Monitoring and Forecasting

Intelligent Platform for Agricultural Drought Monitoring and Forecasting

This project aims to continuously improve the Intelligent Platform for Agricultural Drought Monitoring and Forecasting, a system based on soil water balance modeling that integrates meteorological, pedological, and geospatial data to assess water availability, monitor soil moisture conditions, and generate early warning alerts for agricultural droughts. The research is grounded in the soil water balance methodology developed by Rossato et al. (2004) and further refined by Rossato et al. (2018), following the procedures established in the FAO-56 methodology (Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Irrigation and Drainage Paper No. 56). The project seeks to develop advanced decision-support tools for climate risk management, agricultural planning, and the enhancement of agricultural resilience to climate variability and climate change.
