National Atlantic Forest Day – May 27

Today, we celebrate one of Brazil’s most valuable natural treasures: the Atlantic Forest.

Recognized as one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on Earth, the Atlantic Forest is home to thousands of plant and animal species, many of which are found nowhere else in the world. Beyond its extraordinary biodiversity, this biome plays a crucial role in climate regulation, water resource conservation, soil protection, and the well-being of millions of people.

Despite its immense ecological importance, only a fraction of its original extent remains today, following centuries of deforestation, urban expansion, and unsustainable land use. Protecting the Atlantic Forest is not only an environmental responsibility—it is a commitment to future generations.

On this National Atlantic Forest Day, we reaffirm the importance of science, environmental education, ecological restoration, and conservation policies in safeguarding this unique and irreplaceable ecosystem.

Every tree protected, every habitat restored, and every action taken in defense of nature represents a step toward a more sustainable future.

🌱 Protecting the Atlantic Forest means protecting biodiversity, water resources, climate stability, and our shared natural heritage.
